Requirements:

Minimum and Additional Requirements A High School Diploma and three (3) years experience in clerical administrative, social work, correctional, business administration or general business. An Associates Degree and one (1) year experience in clerical, administrative, social work, correctional business administration, or general business. Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion. Knowledge of local community resources. Ability to establish and maintain professional working relationships and communicate effectively. Ability to interpret and apply laws, regulations, policies, and procedures. Ability to quietly master required databases and systems. Must be able to travel within the state for the purpose of training and meetings to include overnight travel. A valid drivers license is required.

We're looking for an enthusiastic Human Services Specialist I for our Saluda County office who performs general work duties related to the administration of the SNAP and TANF programs in the Economic Services Division to help restore or improve customer financial stability. The Human Service Specialist I will process Six Month Renewals, SCCAP (Four year certifications) , and ESAP (Three year Certifications) Renewals and ESAP Interim Contact (Yearly) forms by determining eligibility and authorizing benefits if applicable. Process changes by redetermining eligibility and reauthorizing benefits if applicable. Maintains electronic case files (in agency designated system) accurately and timely for documentation and auditing purposes; safeguards confidentiality of files and information in files. Identifies and documents overpayments and makes at least 3 possible claims referrals to the Benefit Integrity Unit; prepares supporting documents for Fair Hearings and attends hearings as directed. Provides services in accordance with federal and state laws and regulations and agency policies and procedures. Participates in training and supervisory meetings or staffings as required. Performs Red Cross shelter duty or other emergency shelter duty and services as directed. All South Carolina Department of Social Services (DSS) Employees are expected to Adopt, Implement, and Promote the Published Mission, Vision, and Guiding Principles, While Employed by the Agency.
