You are required to have a Bachelor?s Degree in a related field or an Associate?s Degree and demonstrated competencies in the teaching discipline required. They perfer you to have a minimum of three (3) years work experience as a welder with appropriate certifications (valid/current credentials such as AWS CWI/CWE), completion of Federally approved Apprenticeship program will be considered with proper certifications, the organizational and communication skills necessary to be an effective teacher, the aptitudes to assist both new and returning students to achieve their educational goals and objectives. Knowledge and experience in welding theory, metallurgy, mathematics, blueprint reading, oxygen acetylene welding and brazing, S.M.A.W., G.M.A.W., G.T.A.W., S.A.W., F.C.A.W. and P.A.C. all to A.W.S. and industry standards preferred. Also, the ability to communicate effectively and develop programs and curricula to meet industry needs, and demonstrate welding skills that meet ASME standards applicable to pipe welding in nuclear industry are preferred.
The Welding Instructor will provide instruction for Welding courses. Aiken Technical College faculty provide instruction and academic advisement. Your duties will be to teach courses as assigned in accordance with the established syllabi of Welding courses; advise and register assigned students; participates in retention, placement and cooperative educational experiences; prepare and/or maintain current course syllabi, course outlines and develops classroom expectations for each Welding course taught; maintain accurate academic records; research and recommend adequate instructional materials for courses taught; provide, prepare and maintain adequate classroom and laboratory facilities and equipment for courses taught; participate in the development of departmental budgets and objectives; participate in the development and coordination of course schedules; participate in instructional committees; assist in student recruitment; participate in College committees as assigned; assist in communication between the College and the community; participate in the formulation, interpretation and application of division policies and procedures; participate in College/community service; participate in professional development activities.
