The college welcomes input and live questions to keep the discussion going. For many PTC faculty and staff, their commitment is personal.

He works full-time in the Inpatient Pharmacy Department at Self Regional Healthcare in Greenwood. And while King literally leaves his house each day to clock in for his shift at Self, he very much remains happily “at home.”

  • Piedmont Tech Launches New HVAC Certificate

    Piedmont Technical College (PTC) has introduced a new credential to its HVAC course offerings. “Intro to HVAC” ― a “stackable certificate” ― is designed for people who already are working in the HVAC field and need the EPA Section 608 Technician Certification in order to transport refrigerants. It also provides a means for someone who has never worked in the HVAC field to receive some initial exposure and learn how to obtain an entry-level position in the industry.

  • SC WINS: More Students Can Attend College at No Cost for Tuition and Fees

    Members of the South Carolina General Assembly last year passed legislation ― SC WINS ― allocating $17 million for scholarships to address specific workforce shortages, including those in advanced manufacturing. The scholarship supplements Lottery Tuition Assistance to help further reduce tuition costs for eligible students this fall.

    Piedmont Technical College (PTC) is adding a Vascular Sonography Certificate to its Cardiovascular Technology offerings for the spring 2021 semester. Vascular sonography utilizes ultrasound to perform diagnostic testing on patients’ arteries and veins. It is primarily used in the diagnosis of blood clots, blockages and aneurysms.

    Fabiola Corona came to the United States from Mexico when she was 14 years old. Spanish was the only language she knew. During four years of high school, she picked up English and is conversationally fluent but sometimes struggles when it comes to written English. Now a student majoring in business administration at Piedmont Technical College (PTC), Corona has been receiving extra tutoring help in English and math through the college’s Student Support Services (SSS) department.

  • Winning Student Essays Reflect on the Progress of Feminism and Love’s Perseverance

    In her winning essay in the Writing About Literature category of Piedmont Technical College’s (PTC) 2020 English Department Writing Contest, student Madalyn Harris of Ninety Six ably examines themes of inequality between the sexes in 19th century England, as expressed through Jane Austen’s classic novel, Pride and Prejudice. The novel is set in a time when women were forbidden from owning property and strongly discouraged from demonstrating their intellect or education, among other respected traits. Coincidentally, the two top writing contest winners this year happen to be high-achieving women.
