Wages/Salary: The state salary range is from $37,945.00 to $70,204.00 annually. The agency hiring minimum range is $54,971.00 and the maximum range is $70,204.00.
You will need a bachelor's degree in engineering and two (2) years of entry-level engineering work experience; or a bachelor's degree in engineering technology and four (4) years of entry-level engineering work experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence in accordance with State Human Resources Regulations.
A valid Motor Vehicle Operator's License. You need to be Engineer in Training; SCDOT construction certifications; SCDHEC, CEPSCI certification.
You will Supervise inspectors in all phases of highway and bridge construction projects; conducts sampling and field tests on all projects. Ensures compliance with plans and specifications for both state and federal aid projects; perform miscellaneous tasks to assists the Resident Construction Engineer. This includes checking complaints, night time traffic control inspections, inspecting erosion control, reviewing erosion control plans, and DHEC permits. Ensures that contractors complies with all erosion control plans on all construction projects; prepare daily
dairies, monthly construction estimates, and final plans on construction projects; performs computer work as necessary. Reviews reports, estimates, and final plans produced by subordinates; assist in the coordination of all work performed by utility companies for relocation of water, sewer, natural gas, electricity, fiber optic communications, cable television, and others; maintain utility diaries on complex projects and coordinates utility relocation work with contractor and project plans. Take samples and or supervises others in sampling materials used by the contractor to ensure all is in accordance with specifications; make recommendations regarding sample results; supervise the preparation of final construction plans and monthly construction estimates to ensure that contractors are paid for their work.
Monitors traffic control plans and erosion control plans throughout the project to ensure all is in accordance with specifications and approved plans. Meet with the general public, contractor personnel, utility company representative, city and county officials as necessary while representing the Department; monitor major construction projects for compliance with plans, specifications and standards; perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
