Rep. McCravy, SC House Honor Piedmont Tech Police and Security Personnel

State Rep. John McCravy (R-Greenwood) visited the campus of Piedmont Technical College (PTC) on August 29 to officially recognize PTC law enforcement and security staff who have provided 20 or more years of service. In an upbeat and congenial ceremony, McCravy presented Terry Ledford, Curtis Killian, William Jones, and Michael Brown with certificates of recognition from the SC House of Representatives.

PTC Announces New Cohort of Presidential Ambassadors

Each year, Piedmont Technical College chooses some of its best and brightest students to serve as Presidential Ambassadors. These students represent the college at campus events, provide campus tours and speak about their experiences to various audiences, including potential students and civic organizations. This year’s 17 ambassadors hail from a variety of backgrounds and represent many program areas, but they all have one thing in common ― they share a deep gratitude for the impact Piedmont Tech has had on their lives.

Bonnie Alger is as detail-oriented as the day is long. That’s a good quality when you’re the learning management system technician in Piedmont Technical College’s Teaching and Learning Center (TLC). But it was the lack of a certain detail that Alger found distracting ― and a little bit sad.

Lonza Donates $25,000 to PTC Foundation

Officials from Lonza in Greenwood visited the Piedmont Technical College (PTC) campus on September 17, 2019, and presented the PTC Foundation with a check for $25,000 to be applied toward the construction of the William H. “Billy” O’Dell Upstate Center for Manufacturing Excellence.

Human Services Students Learn Suicide Prevention Strategies

It became astonishingly clear as the question-and-answer session commenced that nearly everyone in the room had been affected by suicide at some point in their life. Some shared their personal stories. A few shed tears. To learn strategies for dealing with a suicidal person in crisis, Piedmont Technical College Human Services students in Greenwood recently participated in a special training ― titled the QPR Institute ― with Tony Johnson, regional executive director of Mental Health America.

Piedmont Tech Continuing Education to Present Details for 2020 Travel Opportunities on October 24

Picture it. Tuscany 2020. Renaissance art. Sunflower fields. Olive groves. … Affordable travel opportunities abound, and the Piedmont Technical College (PTC) Continuing Education program has scheduled a free presentation about three trips planned for 2020 ― to Tuscany, Southern France and the Painted Canyons of the American West. The presentations will take place Thursday, Oct. 24, 2019, in Room 219-C in the Self Conference Center at 620 North Emerald Road.

Instant Admission Day Set for November 20 in Greenwood

Admissions and financial aid counselors in Greenwood will be on hand from 9 a.m. top 5 p.m. on Nov. 20 to help students get accepted and complete the enrollment process quickly for the spring 2020 semester. Students will leave Instant Admission Day already enrolled and prepared to start classes this spring.
