Foothills Craft Show Set for Nov. 2 at Medford Center

College Officials Express Gratitude for O'Dell Center Support

Piedmont Technical College (PTC) and the Piedmont Technical College Foundation recently hosted their annual legislative barbecue at Bermuda’s at The Links at Stoney Point. The event is designed to thank legislators for their support of the college’s mission. This year, attendees got to view time-lapse video showing the dramatic progress on construction of the 45,000-square-foot William H. “Billy” O’Dell Upstate Center for Manufacturing Excellence.

Instant Admission Day Set for November 20 in Greenwood

Admissions and financial aid counselors in Greenwood will be on hand from 9 a.m. top 5 p.m. on Nov. 20 to help students get accepted and complete the enrollment process quickly for the spring 2020 semester. Students will leave Instant Admission Day already enrolled and prepared to start classes this spring.

Horticulture, Construction Technology Students Learn About Risks of Digging and SC811 Resource

Piedmont Technical College (PTC) horticulture and building construction students last month learned the real dirt on accidental utility line ruptures and how to prevent them. It’s a growing concern. A recent investigation by Piedmont Natural Gas in North Carolina found a 40% increase in leaks caused by a contractor or other third party. Construction is up in the region, and PTC Horticulture Program Director Daniel Greenwell saw the need to help inform students who share the common risk of digging or excavation in their work about South Carolina 811.

Eaton Presents $30,000 to PTC Foundation for O'Dell Center Construction

Officials from Eaton in Greenwood on Nov. 19, 2019, presented a check for $30,000 to the Piedmont Technical College Foundation to be applied toward the construction and equipping of the William H. “Billy” O’Dell Upstate Center for Manufacturing Excellence.

Piedmont Technical College Names New VP for Academic Affairs

Piedmont Technical College (PTC) on December 2, 2019, welcomed Dr. Keli Fewox as its new vice president for academic affairs, filling the position recently vacated by Dr. Jack Bagwell. Dr. Fewox comes to PTC from Athens Technical College (ATC) in Georgia, where she most recently served as the college’s vice president for academic affairs and institutional effectiveness.

National Technical Honor Society Inducts Five PTC Students

The Piedmont Technical College (PTC) student chapter of the National Technical Honor Society (NTHS) on Nov. 15, 2019, inducted five new members: Nicole Herbert, Dorothy Holmes, Tamara Jones, Shae Kuusela, and Tasha Lancaster. All are from Greenwood.

Fall Graduation Set for Dec. 12

Piedmont Technical College (PTC) will conduct two fall commencement ceremonies on Thursday, Dec. 12, 2019. The first, at 3 p.m., will celebrate graduates in the arts & sciences, business, computer technology, commercial art & public service, engineering & industrial technologies. The second, at 7 p.m., will celebrate graduates in health care. Both programs will take place in the James Medford Family Event Center on the college’s Lex Walters Campus-Greenwood.

PTC Human Services Students Recognized for Excellence

Piedmont Technical College recently presented its 2019 Human Services Program awards to exceptional students. The Outstanding Student Awards for summer and fall semesters went to Elena Worthing and Brian Love, both of Greenwood. Love also was presented with the program’s Clinical Excellence Award.
