PTC Employees Celebrate Service Milestones

PTC Librarian Yvonne Hudgens and Director of Campus Police and Security Terry Ledford both reached a pinnacle of service at Piedmont Technical College when they were recognized for 40 years of service to the state and college. President Ray Brooks recognized them and 28 other employees who have reached a years-of-service milestone at a luncheon on April 23.

PTC Board Approves Job-Ready Guarantee

The Piedmont Technical College (PTC) Area Commission approved a new “Job-Ready Guarantee” policy at its April 16th meeting. The guarantee pledges that graduates will enter the workforce fully able to perform job-related skills learned as a part of their programs of study. The Job-Ready Guarantee represents PTC's commitment to the quality of its technical education programs. It assures employers that graduates of its Associate in Applied Science degree programs and completers of credit-bearing diploma programs and technical certificates have the knowledge and skill sets needed to successfully perform today’s job functions.

'One Book, One College' Explores 'The Good Food Revolution'

In some neighborhoods, filling up on empty calories is the easiest way to fill an empty stomach. That’s because some neighborhoods exist in “food deserts” where healthy, fresh ingredients are hard to come by in the absence of full-service grocery stores or farmers markets. Author Will Allen recognized this and established an urban farm within walking distance of Milwaukee’s largest public housing project. His book, “The Good Food Revolution: Growing Healthy Food, People and Communities,” is the featured selection for “One Book, One College” at Piedmont Technical College throughout the month of April.
